Canada’s second-ever Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is coming to Ottawa. Construction on the project has officially begun following several years of delays. A ground-breaking ceremony took place at the site on Tuesday afternoon at the location of the Rideau Carleton Casino.
entire project will cost about CA$350m (US$262m)
Speaking about the excitement of the project getting underway, Hard Rock International Chief Operating Officer Jon Lucas said: “We’re finally here.” The entire project will cost about CA$350m (US$262m) and will create almost 1,900 jobs between the construction phase and when the property opens. Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe believes the redevelopment will be “huge for the city.”
Hard Rock International hopes to open the facility in the spring of 2025. It will feature a hotel with 150 rooms, a theatre, and a variety of restaurants. Gaming patrons will be able to choose from 1,500 slot machines, 40 table games, a baccarat room, a high roller area, and a sportsbook. The Rideau Carleton Casino and the adjoining racetrack will stay open during the construction process.
