The World Series of Poker has announced the ten finalists for the Poker Hall of Fame Class of 2023. The illustrious group was selected through a two-week public nomination process, vetted by the Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council. One person from the following list – or in one case, as you will see, a duo – will be voted into the Hall (listed alphabetically):
• Josh Arieh
• Jeremy Ausmus
• Ted Forrest
• Kathy Liebert
• Mike Matusow
• Lon McEachren and Norman Chad
• Brian Rast
• Matt Savage
• Isai Scheinberg
• Bill Smith
Most of the list is the same as last year. Ausmus, Forrest, and Smith were not finalists last year, replacing Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier and Michael Mizrachi, as well as Layne Flack, who was the 2022 inductee.
the decision goes to the 32 living Poker Hall of Fame members
From here, the decision goes to the 32 living Poker Hall of Fame members. Each will cast a ballot allocating ten points to the finalists in whatever way they deem fit – all to one person, one to each, or anything in between.
The 2023 Poker Hall of Fame inductee will be announced on July 13, during the $1,979 Poker Hall of Fame Bounty No-Limit Hold’em event.
